Not only is the Toyota Prius a hit in the US hybrid market, but it's a best seller abroad too. Toyota announced that they sold over 1 million Toyota Prius hybrids in Japan alone. Compare that to the 2.68 million hybrids Toyota has sold globally as of July 31, 2010 and one begins to realize how quickly the Japanese consumers are adopting hybrids.

Toyota has recently had a bumpy few months with the recalls, but is making a comeback, reporting a $2.2 billion profit for the second quarter. Things are obviously on the upswing and YouGov BrandIndex, which tracks consume attitudes, confirms this saying that Toyota is back to an overall positive image with consumers.

Toyota plans to continue its hybrid growth by pushing to sell one million hybrid vehicles a year during this decade and adding hybrids to all their vehicle lines by 2020.
Toyota is also hard at work on its electric car line having recently teamed up with electric car start-up, Tesla. All these efforts have made Toyota one of the leaders in green car technology.
