If you’re having little luck prying the kids away from video games, the television, or an electronic device, you aren’t alone. The age of instant gratification has made it more difficult to keep kids entertained, and parents must often play the bad guy when they intervene. However, your kids won’t balk at day trips in the exciting city of Allentown. For a fun-filled family adventure, check out a few of these suggestions.

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom

Searching for a thrill? Let the kids go wild at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. Open the first weekend in May until Labor Day, Dorney Park has 200 acres of games, rides, and entertainment. The park has 47 rides in total, including family rides, giant roller coasters, a massive water park, and more. If the kids are driving you crazy, head to the Dodgem bumper cars to let off some aggression.

Tickets are $39.99, but discounts and deals are readily available throughout the season.

America on Wheels Museum

The days of playing with Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars might be over, but if your child loves watching car chase scenes, playing racing games, or watching dad work on the car, take them to the America on Wheels Museum. Covering 23,000 square feet, the museum showcases 75 classic automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, and trucks.

The museum has winter and summer hours, so check ahead to see when it’s open. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for children 6 to 16.

Whether you want a day of heart-pumping thrills or an auto education, you can find it all in Allentown.
