America On Wheels is a museum in Allentown, Pennsylvania, that’s all about the history of automobiles and transportation in the United States. The museum has a vast permanent collection you can see whenever you stop by, but if you stop by on the right dates, you can enjoy one of the many events they host throughout the summer.
Eddie Sachs Memorial Slot Car Day
Slot Car Day happens on June 2 and starts at 10 a.m. Vendors will sell unique cars, tracks, and other slot car parts all day, and there’s a public slot track where you can try before you buy. You can also take part in the America On Wheels Grand Prix in one of several slot car divisions.
Hoods Up Weekend
The Hoods Up Weekend takes place on June 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Car customizers from all over the region put their vehicles on display here to show everyone what they’ve got. It also happens to be Father’s Day weekend, making it a perfect time to bring your father if he’s something of a grease monkey.
Classics and Cruises on Hamilton
Classics and Cruises is a four-hour event that starts on July 21 at 4 p.m. The event takes over a stretch of Hamilton Street as it leads to the museum and lines it with classic cars from every era.
There’s always plenty to see in the exhibits of America On Wheels, but if you attend one of these events, you’ll be able to make some unforgettable memories.
