Philadelphia is famous for its cheesesteak, but there’s more to eat in the City of Brotherly Love than grilled steak on a sub. Philly is a giant East Coast city, and it has unique local restaurants that can feed a visitor from Allentown for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast: The Hungry Pigeon

Start your day off nice and early at the Hungry Pigeon on South 4th Street. It’s a popular spot, so it’s good to go in early at 7 a.m. whether you want something light, such as a croissant or something bigger, such as a breakfast bowl with avocado and kimchi.

Lunch: Front Street Cafe

When noon rolls around, head to the Front Street Cafe (on Front Street, of course). The meals here are New American with a touch of the unusual, such as a kale Caesar salad and a griddled cheese with pimento. Just be sure to make a reservation or go at 2 p.m. or so if you don’t want to wait.

Dinner: Stock

Stock is just down the road from Front Street Cafe on East Girard Avenue, and it stays open until 10 p.m. Stock offers a few different meals from Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam, but if you haven’t ever had pho before then you should try one of Stock’s delicious selections.

Spending a day in Philadelphia can be educational, entertaining, or anything else you can imagine. But no matter what you’re up to, when the time comes for your three square meals, you owe it to yourself to eat the best Philly has to offer.
