Car shopping generally starts by picking out vehicles with an appearance that attracts you.  You shouldn’t stop at good-looking vehicles, though, as it is important to take your research a little farther to ensure you choose the right vehicle for your needs.  One aspect you should always consider when car shopping is the safety features provided.  Your Ardmore area Toyota dealer shares information about the safety features of the 2014 Highlander:

Advanced Airbags

All new cars have airbags, but the 2014 Toyota Highlander takes it a step further with the advanced airbag system.  There is a driver’s knee airbag, side curtain airbags, and front-seat-mounted side airbags.  The front passenger also has a seat-cushion airbag.

Toyota Star Safety System

A top of the line safety system is included on most new Toyota vehicles.  This collection of safety features is known as the Toyota Star Safety System and includes brake assist traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Smart Stop Technology.  The combination of safety features help the driver maintain control of the vehicle and re-gain control during poor driving situations.

Other Standard Safety Features

The Highlander offers a tire pressure monitoring system, downhill assist and hill start assist.  There is front and rear energy-absorbing crumple zones and side door beams to reduce the impact on the driver and passengers during collision. On the Limited trim level, a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert system is included.
