cell phonesJapanese drivers now have a new app to help them find a restroom. Macungie area Toyota is proud to announce that Toyota now has an app called Restroom Finder, that will help motorists find an appropriate restroom. This is important because it specifically addresses those with disabilities and special needs who have trouble finding accommodations.

About the Restroom Finder Applicable

The app gives the driver specific details about different facilities such as whether or not there is easy access for those with wheelchairs. The app spans a large variety of service areas, and Welcab Stations by Toyota are included. So far, the app gives information in the Tokai region and three prefectures within it: Mie, Aichi and Gifu. The app guides users with routes to facilities that fit the parameters within these regions. Advice was sought about what kind of information should be collected and provided by the non-profit group, Iseshima Barrier Free Tour Center. They supervised the development of the app based on how they interpret “personal barrier-free standards”.

How the App Works

Restroom Finder works with the Toyota-T Connect telematics system and Lexus G-Link telematics system. Those with special needs can find restrooms on public roads and highways. The app filters search results by user needs or facility type, which includes the presence of care beds and location of handrails, ostomate facilities and diaper-changing tables. Facilities cab also be added as en route stops or another destination if it has already been set into the initial navigation screen. The app was exhibited at the International Welfare and Health Industry Exhibition on May 21-May 23 in Nagoya.
