Allentown in Pennsylvania experiences some cold winters, but it gets just as hot in the summer. The heat and humidity can become oppressive at times, but you don’t have to spend those days inside with the air conditioner cranked up. Instead, you can head out and enjoy some of these Allentown activities that let you cool off as you enjoy the outdoors.
Dorney Park
Located at the west end of town, Dorney Park is an amusement park with thrilling roller coasters, fun rides, and a water park named Wildwater Kingdom. Wildwater offers things like winding slides, lazy rivers, a wave pool, and a shallow splash area just for young kids. This includes a massive water slide big enough to send up to four people down on a single 8-foot-wide raft.
Dutch Springs
If you want your water adventure to be a bit less constructed and a bit more wild, Dutch Springs is on the other end of the Allentown area in Bethlehem. This water park sits right on the northern side of a lake, and the water park includes plenty of inflatable slides and obstacles big enough for the whole family to play on. Dutch Springs also offers snorkeling tours and scuba adventures for visitors who really want to see what this lake has to offer.
Allentown also has plenty of public and community pools where you can cool off on a hot day. Still, if you’re ever near Allentown in the summer, do yourself a favor and check these places out.
