The 2018 Corolla hatchback is the iM, a vehicle that came from Scion after Toyota discontinued the brand. However, for 2019, the company is producing a completely new hatchback design, one that brings a new feeling and a new shape to Toyota’s classic compact car.

The Drivetrain

The all-new 2019 Corolla Hatchback will come with a simple 2.0-liter engine that generates 168 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, a significant jump over the last generation’s power. Something else it gets is one of two transmissions: a six-speed manual with rev-matching technology and a Dynamic-Shift CVT. The CVT mixes things up with a fixed first gear, adding durability and reducing the droning noise so many people dislike.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0

Safety technology is constantly improving, and the Toyota Safety Sense package is improving right along with it. This means the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection on the 2019 Corolla Hatchback can detect cyclists, along with pedestrians, and can work better in low-light conditions. You also get a Lane Tracing Assist that’s better able to see the lanes on the road and Road Edge Detection that does the same thing with curbs and shoulders.
